This course is for all paddlers and coaches that operate in on a flat water environment, regardless of their craft (kayak, canoe, sea kayak, sit-on-top). It aims to provide the participants with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely and to be able to deal with common problems and emergencies. Self Rescues will be practiced for river kayak, sea kayak and open canoe as well as a variety of techniques rescuing others.The certificate is one of the prerequisites along with the BCU 2 star certificate to enter the coaching programme at Level 1.
