The Sea Kayak award is internationally recognised and shows that you are a competent and useful member of a group out on the Sea and an asset to any coach or guide in moderate conditions. At this level the candidate can consider themselves an intermediate sea paddler rather than a beginner or improver with good technical & rescue skills, the ability to roll in calm conditions with a set up, and show good group awareness in conditions up to Beaufort Force 3 Winds and Sea State 3.With 5 days on the water, we have time to focus on the skills you need to develop to attain the award. We will work on your roll, rescues and all the personal skills needed to paddle safely on the sea and start planning your own journeys with friends. For those not so interested in the award itself, this course is still an excellent training course focusing on skills you might not otherwise look at, adding a new dimension to your paddling.This is a training course and assessment takes place on an ongoing basis meaning we can pass the award upon seeing all relevant criteria set by British Canoeing. We will work together to provide feedback and an action plan to achieve the award or if successful, to take you further in your paddling.

My goal was to learn as much as possible. I certainly reached my goal. And on top of that, I got to spend a week in a beautiful place with a group of lovely people. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to improve paddling or just have a great time on the sea.
