This course is aimed at paddlers of all abilities who want to gain more confidence on the water and wish to learn how to self-rescue and rescue others.
- Experienced coach with small group sizes
- top quality equipment
- neoprenes and jackets / Drysuits
In addition to learning new skills and gaining in confidence on the water, the day itself is a lot of fun. We’ll practice getting back in to the boat after a capsize, a number of rescue and self-rescue techniques, using various pieces of equipment (including paddle floats, towlines and pumps) and will look at some of the general safety issues we should be aware of before venturing out on the water and some of the different challenges you could face whilst kayaking. This is a valuable course as it gives you the skills needed to safely paddle on your own in the knowledge that you are competent in rescuing yourself and others. Our aim is to make you as self-sufficient as possible to enable you to go out kayaking confidently under your own steam. We run the majority of our Safety & Rescue courses from our base in Bönigen* on Lake Brienz. Here there is good access to the lake via public transport and there is also free parking behind the Hotel Seiler au Lac should you wish to drive. With Lake Brienz’s spectacular turquoise coloured waters and stunning mountain scenery it’s well worth making the trip to this area. The course day starts at 9.15am and ends at 4.15pm.
